Autumn Has a Palette. We Put It on Kids.
Autumn in China has always had a palette. The jade green of late-season osmanthus leaves. The amber of sunflowers heavy with seed. The deep persimmon red that appears in every Song-dynasty harvest painting — and on every street-corner fruit stall from September onward.
Fairy Descending, Little Hanfu’s Autumn/Winter 2026 collection, takes that palette and asks a simple question: what if traditional Chinese color could survive a six-year-old’s Tuesday? The answer is 39 pieces of kidswear — Song-dynasty colors, modern cuts, machine-washable fabrics — and this is the story behind it.
Why “Fairy Descending”?
The name comes from a classical Chinese image: tiannü sanhua, a celestial maiden scattering blossoms as she descends to earth. It captures what the collection tries to do — bring something old and beautiful down to ground level, where children actually live. Song-dynasty landscape painting is famous for restraint: soft greens, hazy distance, one confident accent of red. Those are exactly the three color families of this line.
Three Color Stories for Autumn
Jade green: the Osmanthus Path
The season opens in jade green — the color of Song-dynasty mountains and of osmanthus leaves that never quite turned. The Osmanthus Path girls’ series pairs soft jacquard with frog-button closures that reference Ming and Qing tailoring, cut generously enough to layer over a turtleneck when the temperature drops. It is the collection’s quiet piece, and the one that photographs best against autumn foliage.
Amber: the Sunward sunflower series
Sunward carries summer’s amber into fall. A sunflower-story set in warm gold tones, designed for the last warm weekends — school runs, park afternoons, the family photos nobody plans in advance.
Persimmon red: the harvest pieces
Persimmon red is the luckiest color in the Chinese autumn, and it anchors the line’s red-ground pieces — jacquard vest-dress sets and mandarin-collar sweatshirt sets (such as SXY-QK26-08 and the SXY-QK26-33 to 35 family) built for festivals, birthdays, and the grandparents’ house. It is the color of harvest paintings for a reason: it photographs the way families actually want their holiday photos to look.
The Artist Capsule: Four Wearable Paintings
For the first time, Little Hanfu worked with an international artist. Contemporary painter Ilia Kernitskii — chair of the Far East Branch of the Russian Union of Artists and visiting faculty at the Hebei Academy of Fine Arts, where the brand’s founder also teaches — lent his Sunflowers & Cacti oil-painting series to the line. The result is a four-piece co-brand capsule (SXY-QK26-36 through 39): cactus and sunflower prints on two-piece sweatshirt sets, each one a wearable painting. His story and the full capsule are profiled on our designer page.
Built for Movement, Tested by Children
Every piece in the collection follows the same rule the brand was founded on in 2017: hanfu a child can actually run, climb, and play in. That translates into specifics rather than slogans.
Can it go in the washing machine?
The cotton and cotton-linen pieces — most of the line — machine wash cold on a gentle cycle inside a mesh bag, then hang dry. Velvet and satin pieces are hand-wash or dry-clean. Prints and jacquards are dye-fixed; no special detergent needed.
Is it safe for small children?
Children’s sizes use stitched frog buttons, waist-level ties only, no neck drawstrings, and walkable hems. These are the same four checks we recommend parents run on any traditional kidswear, ours or anyone else’s.
Can a child move in it?
The house test is three moves: sit cross-legged, climb one step, arms overhead. Wide-leg trousers, elastic-backed waists, and mid-calf hems exist so all three pass — the silhouette looks traditional and behaves like play clothes.
Sizing the Collection
The line runs from 100 to 150 cm, sized by height the Chinese way. Quick conversion:
| Size (cm) | Approx. US Age | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 100 | 3–4 years (3T–4T) | Toddler cuts run roomy |
| 110 | 4–5 years (4T–5T) | Most-ordered size |
| 120 | 6–7 years (US 6–7) | True to height for dress sets |
| 130 | 7–8 years (US 7–8) | Room for a base layer |
| 140 | 9–10 years (US 10) | Youth fit |

The short version of the sizing rule: buy one size up for tied, layered styles; buy true to height for fitted and padded pieces. The complete chart and the exceptions live in our hanfu sizing guide for kids.
